1917 – 2000David Tomlinson (1917-2000)Died 24 June 2000, aged 83David Tomlinson was an English actor remembered for three Disney films: as the reforming father George Banks in Mary Poppins, and in Bedknobs and Broomsticks and The Love Bug. A skilled light comedian, he had a long stage and screen career in Britain before Hollywood. He largely retired after the 1970s.

He was the only player to finish under par, an exhibition of dominance widely considered the greatest single performance in golf history.

The 2000 season is often called the finest in the sport's history.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger read its vision of a "bishop dressed in white" being struck down as foreshadowing the 1981 attempt on Pope John Paul II's life. Some commentators disputed the interpretation.
