1986The Hand of GodIn the World Cup quarter-final against England, Maradona punches the ball into the net with his left hand. The referee misses the offence and awards the goal. Afterwards Maradona says the goal was scored "a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God" — one of the most brazen and celebrated post-match deflections in sporting history.
