1937Andrew Mellon (1855-1937)Died 26 August 1937, aged 82American banker and industrialist who served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1921 to 1932. His art collection formed the basis of the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

1937 – 2003Herb Brooks (1937-2003)Died 11 August 2003, aged 66Herb Brooks coached the United States ice hockey team that beat the heavily favoured Soviet Union at the 1980 Winter Olympics, a game known as the Miracle on Ice, and went on to win the gold medal. He later coached in the National Hockey League and died in a car crash in Minnesota.

The name is changed from 'Toyoda' to 'Toyota' — in Japanese, 'Toyota' takes eight strokes to write (a lucky number) versus ten for 'Toyoda,' and the new name sounds cleaner and more suitable for an international brand. The company builds its first dedicated automobile factory in Koromo (later renamed Toyota City) the same year. Production begins at 150 vehicles per month.
