1899 – 1992Friedrich Hayek (1899-1992)Died 23 March 1992, aged 92Friedrich Hayek was an Austrian-British economist and philosopher whose defense of free markets and critique of central planning, notably in "The Road to Serfdom," shaped conservative and libertarian thought. He shared the 1974 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. His ideas influenced policymakers including Margaret Thatcher.
