His ideas influenced legal and social reform across Britain and beyond. He died in London, and per his instructions his body was preserved as an "auto-icon," which is still on display at University College London.
1832Anahuac DisturbancesTexian settlers clash with Mexican garrisonAnglo-American settlers in Texas, then part of Mexico, clashed with Mexican customs officials and garrison troops at Anahuac over trade enforcement and arbitrary arrests. The skirmishes were resolved without major bloodshed but hardened settler distrust of the Mexican government. The episode is considered an early precursor to the Texas Revolution.
