• 1745 – 1829 John Jay (1745-1829) Died 17 May 1829, aged 83 Jay was an American statesman and Founding Father who served as the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court and negotiated the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War. He later served as Governor of New York and negotiated the controversial Jay Treaty with Britain. He died at his home in Bedford, New York.
