1814Napoleon abdicates and is exiled to ElbaTreaty of Fontainebleau ends his first reignAfter the Allied powers captured Paris, Napoleon signed the Treaty of Fontainebleau, abdicating the French throne unconditionally. He was allowed to retain the title of Emperor and was exiled to the Mediterranean island of Elba. He would return to France less than a year later for the Hundred Days.
