1806Battle of Jena-AuerstedtNapoleon crushes the Prussian armyOn 14 October 1806, French forces under Napoleon and Marshal Davout defeated the Prussian army in twin battles near Jena and Auerstedt. The defeat shattered Prussian military prestige and led to the French occupation of Berlin within two weeks. Prussia lost roughly half its territory in the subsequent peace settlement.
