The battle demonstrated the effectiveness of British line infantry tactics against French columns. It had little lasting strategic effect, as the British soon withdrew from the Italian mainland.
1806Vellore MutinySepoys revolt against East India Company ruleOn 10 July 1806, Indian soldiers at Vellore Fort mutinied against the British East India Company, angered by new dress regulations seen as attacks on their religion and caste.
