• 2117 Transit of Venus — December 10–11, 2117 The next transit of Venus across the face of the Sun — the rarest of all predictable astronomical events — occurs on 10–11 December 2117. Venus transits occur in pairs separated by 8 years, but with over a century between pairs. The previous pair was in 2004 and 2012; the one before that in 1874 and 1882. The 2117 transit will be visible from southern and western North America, the Pacific, Asia and Australia. No person alive today will witness it.
