2030New Horizons — deepest Kuiper Belt flybyNASA's New Horizons spacecraft — which performed the first close flyby of Pluto in July 2015 — continues its journey through the outer solar system. After its 2019 flyby of Arrokoth (the most distant object ever visited by a spacecraft), New Horizons is expected to fly by one or more additional Kuiper Belt Objects in the early 2030s, if a suitable target is identified. By 2030 it will be approximately 58 AU from the Sun, deeper into the Kuiper Belt than any previous spacecraft.
2030Winter Olympics — French Alps 2030The 2030 Winter Olympics are awarded to the French Alps region, centred on Nice with events spread across Alpine venues including those used in the 1968 Grenoble and 1992 Albertville Games. Scheduled for February 2030. France will become the first country to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics in back-to-back cycles (Paris 2024 / Alps 2030).
2030FIFA World Cup 2030 — Spain, Portugal & MoroccoThe centenary FIFA World Cup — 100 years after Uruguay hosted the first tournament in 1930 — is co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, spanning two continents and three countries across the Mediterranean. To mark the centenary, three opening matches are held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. The main tournament runs 8 June – 21 July 2030. Morocco becomes the first African nation to co-host a World Cup. Spain last hosted in 1982; Portugal and Morocco are first-time hosts.
