2020Duplantis breaks the outdoor record -- Rome, 17 September 2020On 17 September 2020 in Rome, Sweden's Armand Duplantis clears 6.15m to break Bubka's outdoor world record of 6.14m, which had stood since Sestriere 1994 -- 26 years. Duplantis subsequently raises the outdoor record repeatedly and also breaks the indoor record. The end of the Bubka era in the record books is acknowledged as the passing of an extraordinary landmark: no individual world record in any athletics event had stood longer than Bubka's outdoor mark.
