• 1929 – 2019 Andre Previn (1929-2019) Died 28 February 2019, aged 89 Andre Previn was a German-born American conductor, pianist, and composer who led major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra and won four Academy Awards for film scoring. He worked across classical, jazz, and film music with equal acclaim. He died at his home in New York.
• 1933 – 2019 Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) Died 19 February 2019, aged 85 Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer who led the houses of Chanel and Fendi for decades while also running his own label. Known for his instantly recognizable white ponytail and sunglasses, he became one of the most influential figures in modern fashion. He died in Paris after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
• 1942 – 2019 Peter Tork (1942-2019) Died 21 February 2019, aged 77 Peter Tork was an American musician best known as the bassist and keyboardist for the 1960s pop group the Monkees. The band, formed for a television series, went on to become a genuine commercial and cultural phenomenon. He died at his home in Connecticut.
• 2019 MiG-21 shot down over Kashmir Abhinandan Varthaman Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman's MiG-21 Bison is shot down during an air battle with Pakistani F-16s. He is captured and released two days later. India claims an F-16, which Pakistan denies.
• 2019 F-35C operational with the US Navy Carrier version The carrier-based F-35C reaches initial operational capability with the US Navy.
