• 2016 Hurricane Matthew Category 5 storm devastates Haiti Hurricane Matthew, a powerful Category 5 storm, struck Haiti, Cuba, and the southeastern United States, killing over 500 people, mostly in Haiti. It was the strongest Atlantic hurricane in nearly a decade at its peak. The storm caused widespread flooding and a humanitarian crisis in Haiti.
• 2016 AB InBev Completes SABMiller Acquisition Deal creates dominant global brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev completed its roughly $100 billion acquisition of rival brewer SABMiller, creating a company responsible for around a third of the world's beer sales. The deal was one of the largest corporate mergers in history. Regulators required the sale of several major brands to approve the deal.
