2014Capture of Joaquin "El Chapo" GuzmanMexican drug lord seized in Sinaloa after years as a fugitiveMexican marines captured Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel, in a raid on a beachfront hotel in Mazatlan. He had evaded capture for 13 years following a 2001 prison escape. Guzman would later escape custody again in 2015 before his eventual extradition to the United States.
