1909 – 2010Miep Gies (1909-2010)Died 11 January 2010, aged 100Gies was one of the Dutch citizens who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis in an Amsterdam attic during the Second World War. After the family's arrest, she preserved Anne's diary and later gave it to Anne's father, Otto Frank, leading to its publication. She was among the last surviving helpers of the Frank family.
