1916 – 2001Herbert A. Simon (1916-2001)Died 9 February 2001, aged 84Simon was a polymath who won the 1978 Nobel Prize in Economics for his theory of bounded rationality in decision-making. He was also a founder of the fields of artificial intelligence and cognitive science. He spent most of his career at Carnegie Mellon University.
