1920 – 1996Timothy Leary (1920-1996)Died 31 May 1996, aged 75Timothy Leary was an American psychologist and writer who became a leading advocate for the therapeutic and recreational use of psychedelic drugs in the 1960s counterculture. His research at Harvard and public campaigns for LSD experimentation made him a controversial and widely recognized figure. He died of prostate cancer at his home in Beverly Hills.
