1993Warrington bombingIRA bomb attack kills two children in an English town centreThe Provisional IRA detonated two bombs in litter bins in the English town of Warrington, killing three-year-old Jonathan Ball and twelve-year-old Tim Parry and injuring dozens of shoppers. The attack on a civilian target provoked widespread public revulsion in both Britain and Ireland. It became a catalyst for cross-community peace initiatives during the Northern Ireland peace process.
