1993Hubble Space Telescope's first servicing missionShuttle astronauts correct the telescope's flawed mirrorAstronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour conducted a series of spacewalks to install corrective optics on the Hubble Space Telescope, fixing the spherical aberration in its main mirror that had blurred images since 1990. The mission restored Hubble to its intended sharpness and enabled decades of subsequent astronomical discoveries. It was widely regarded as a make-or-break test of NASA's space shuttle and space station programs.
