1990Waters performs The Wall at Berlin -- 200,000 attendRoger Waters stages a massive performance of The Wall at the site of the recently demolished Berlin Wall on 21 July 1990, celebrating German reunification. The audience of 200,000 is the largest paying concert audience in history at the time. The cast includes Bryan Adams, Sinead O'Connor, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Cyndi Lauper, Thomas Dolby, Marianne Faithfull and the Scorpions. The production, staged in the no man's land between East and West Berlin, is a genuine cultural event rather than merely a rock concert. Waters uses the occasion to demonstrate that he -- not Gilmour -- is the creative force behind Pink Floyd's most important work.
