1987Korean Air Flight 858 bombedNorth Korean agents blow up a passenger jet, killing all 115 aboardNorth Korean agents planted a bomb aboard Korean Air Flight 858, which exploded over the Andaman Sea near Myanmar, killing all 115 people on board. The attack was intended to discourage foreign participation in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. One of the two agents, Kim Hyon-hui, was captured and confessed after a failed suicide attempt.
