1975Khmer Rouge captures Phnom PenhCambodian capital falls, Khmer Rouge takes powerKhmer Rouge forces led by Pol Pot entered Phnom Penh on 17 April 1975, ending the Cambodian Civil War. The new regime immediately began evacuating the city and imposing a radical agrarian program that led to mass death over the following years. The takeover came just two weeks before the fall of Saigon.
