1946 – 1971Duane Allman (1946-1971)Died 29 October 1971, aged 24Duane Allman was a guitarist and founder of the Allman Brothers Band, celebrated for his slide guitar work and session contributions to recordings including Derek and the Dominos' Layla. He died in a motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia, shortly after the band's breakthrough live album. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential rock guitarists of his era.
