1970"Abraxas" ReleasedCareer-defining number one albumReleased on September 23, 1970, Abraxas topped the Billboard 200 and became the band's definitive early statement, featuring the medley "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen" and a cover of Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va." The album fused rock, blues, salsa, and jazz into a sound that had never been heard on American radio at that scale. Abraxas was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and preserved in the National Recording Registry.
