• 1969 Concorde first flight Supersonic passenger jet debuts The Anglo-French supersonic passenger aircraft Concorde made its maiden flight on March 2, 1969, from Toulouse, France.
• 1969 Sino-Soviet Border Conflict Chinese and Soviet troops clash along the Ussuri River Chinese and Soviet forces fought a series of armed clashes over the disputed Zhenbao Island on the Ussuri River beginning 2 March 1969. The fighting brought the two communist powers to the brink of full-scale war before a ceasefire was negotiated in September.
