1878 – 1968Upton Sinclair (1878-1968)Died 25 November 1968, aged 90The American novelist and muckraking journalist, best known for his 1906 novel "The Jungle" exposing conditions in the meatpacking industry, died in a New Jersey nursing home. His writing helped spur passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act. He wrote nearly 100 books over his long career.
