1968Hair opens on BroadwayRock musical celebrating counterculture debuts in New YorkThe "American Tribal Love-Rock Musical" Hair opened on Broadway, bringing nudity, drug use and anti-war themes to a mainstream New York stage for the first time. Its score, including "Aquarius" and "Let the Sunshine In," became emblematic of the hippie counterculture. The show ran for over 1,700 performances.
