1960Diego Maradona born in Lanús, Buenos AiresDiego Armando Maradona is born in the Lanús district of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina, the fifth of eight children of Diego Maradona Sr. and Dalma Salvadora Franco ("Doña Tota"). The family soon moves to the Villa Fiorito shantytown — one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires — where Diego grows up without running water or reliable electricity.
