1906 – 1945Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)Died 9 April 1945, aged 38Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran theologian and vocal opponent of Nazism who was implicated in a plot to assassinate Hitler. He was executed by hanging at Flossenbürg concentration camp weeks before the camp was liberated. His theological writings on faith and resistance remain widely influential.
