1906 – 1944Missak Manouchian (1906-1944)Died 21 February 1944, aged 37Armenian poet and survivor of the Armenian genocide who led a French Resistance group of immigrant fighters in Paris. He and his comrades were captured and shot at Mont-Valérien, after being denounced in the Nazi Affiche Rouge poster. He was inducted into the Panthéon in 2024.

Tens of thousands died during the transport and in exile. The Chechen-Ingush republic was abolished until 1957.
