1944Harvard Mark I dedicatedIBM's Automatic Sequence Controlled CalculatorThe electromechanical Harvard Mark I, designed by Howard Aiken and built by IBM, was formally presented to Harvard University. It was over 15 metres long and read its instructions from punched paper tape. Grace Hopper was one of its first programmers, and it was used for calculations for the Manhattan Project.
