Many were held in terrible conditions at the Vélodrome d'Hiver cycling stadium before being sent to Auschwitz. Few survived.
1942Great deportation from the Warsaw GhettoMass transports to Treblinka empty most of the ghettoGerman forces began the Grossaktion Warsaw, the mass deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto. About 265,000 people were sent to the newly opened Treblinka extermination camp and murdered by September. The survivors later launched the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943.
