1882 – 1940Lluís Companys (1882-1940)Died 15 October 1940, aged 58President of the Generalitat of Catalonia during the Civil War. The Gestapo arrested him in France and handed him to Franco's regime. He was shot at Montjuïc Castle in Barcelona.
