1893 – 1936José Calvo Sotelo (1893-1936)Died 13 July 1936, aged 43José Calvo Sotelo was a Spanish monarchist politician and former finance minister. He led the parliamentary right in 1936. He was murdered by members of the Republican security forces, and his killing helped trigger the military uprising days later.

1936Montreux ConventionTurkey regains control of the StraitsThe Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits was signed in Switzerland. It returned control of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles to Turkey and allowed the country to remilitarise them. It also guaranteed civilian ships free passage in peacetime.
