1932Japan establishes ManchukuoPuppet state created in occupied ManchuriaAfter seizing Manchuria, Japan set up the state of Manchukuo, with the last Qing emperor Puyi as its nominal head. Most of the world refused to recognise it, and the League of Nations condemned the occupation.
1932Kidnapping of the Lindbergh babyAviator's infant son abducted from the family homeCharles Augustus Lindbergh Jr., the 20-month-old son of Charles Lindbergh, was taken from the family home in Hopewell, New Jersey. His body was found near the house on 12 May. The case led Congress to make kidnapping across state lines a federal crime.
