Anderson recorded tracks of a positively charged particle with the mass of an electron. It confirmed Paul Dirac's prediction of antimatter, and Anderson shared the 1936 Nobel Prize in Physics.

He was also a founding figure in North American professional soccer. He is credited with coining the term "Super Bowl."
