1931Invergordon MutinyAtlantic Fleet sailors refuse duty over pay cutsSailors of the Royal Navy's Atlantic Fleet at Invergordon in Scotland refused to put to sea in protest at pay cuts announced by the National Government. The Admiralty agreed to review the cuts and the mutiny ended peacefully. News of it helped trigger the run on sterling that forced Britain off gold days later.
