1930Brüning appointed German ChancellorWeimar Republic moves toward government by presidential decreePresident Paul von Hindenburg appointed Heinrich Brüning of the Centre Party as chancellor after Hermann Müller's coalition collapsed. Brüning had no majority in the Reichstag and governed through emergency decrees under Article 48. This weakened parliamentary democracy in Germany.
