1929Graf Zeppelin flies around the worldFirst round-the-world flight by an airshipThe German airship LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin, commanded by Hugo Eckener, flew around the globe from Lakehurst, New Jersey, stopping at Friedrichshafen, Tokyo and Los Angeles. The voyage was sponsored in part by the Hearst newspapers and took 21 days.
1929 – 2013Ronnie Biggs (1929-2013)Died 18 December 2013, aged 84Ronnie Biggs was a British criminal who took part in the 1963 Great Train Robbery and evaded capture for decades after escaping prison, living for years as a fugitive in Brazil. He died in a care home in England.
