1853 – 1928Hendrik Lorentz (1853-1928)Died 4 February 1928, aged 74Dutch physicist who shared the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics for work on the Zeeman effect. The Lorentz transformation equations became central to Einstein's special relativity. He also led the engineering studies for the Zuiderzee Works.
