1927Autumn Harvest UprisingMao Zedong leads a peasant revolt in HunanMao Zedong led an insurrection of peasants, miners and soldiers in Hunan and Jiangxi. The uprising failed to take Changsha. Mao then withdrew the survivors to the Jinggang Mountains and set up a rural base there.
