1926Ibn Saud proclaimed King of HejazA step toward the founding of Saudi ArabiaOn 8 January 1926, Abdulaziz ibn Saud was proclaimed King of Hejaz after his forces captured Mecca, Medina and Jeddah from the Hashemites the previous year. He already ruled Nejd as sultan, and the combined realm would become the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
