La Follette Sr., progressive U.S. senator from Wisconsin and 1924 Progressive Party presidential candidate, died in Washington, D.C. He had built a national reputation as a champion of anti-trust regulation and political reform. His sons continued his progressive political legacy in Wisconsin politics.
