• 1925 The Great Gatsby published F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel of the Jazz Age appears F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby, a novel of wealth, love and disillusionment set on Long Island during the Jazz Age. It sold poorly during his lifetime but was later recognized as a landmark of American literature. It is now widely taught in schools and considered one of the great American novels.
