1923Treaty of Lausanne signedTreaty settles borders of the new Turkish stateThe Treaty of Lausanne was signed by Turkey and the Allied powers, replacing the unratified Treaty of Sevres and establishing the internationally recognized borders of modern Turkey. It also provided for a large-scale population exchange between Greece and Turkey. The treaty formally ended the state of war stemming from the First World War in the region.
