1922Nosferatu PremieresF. W. Murnau's unauthorized Dracula adaptation opens in BerlinNosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, directed by F. W. Murnau, premiered in Berlin on 4 March 1922. An unlicensed adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, it became a landmark of German Expressionist cinema despite a lawsuit from Stoker's estate that nearly resulted in all prints being destroyed. It remains one of the most influential horror films ever made.
