1920 – 2003Roy Jenkins (1920-2003)Died 5 January 2003, aged 82Roy Jenkins was a British Labour home secretary whose reforms in the 1960s liberalised laws on divorce, homosexuality, abortion and censorship. He later served as President of the European Commission and in 1981 co-founded the Social Democratic Party. He was also a prolific political biographer.
