1920Treaty of Sevres SignedAllied powers impose peace terms on the Ottoman EmpireThe Ottoman government signed the Treaty of Sevres, which stripped the empire of most of its Arab territories and ceded large areas to Greece and other neighbors. The harsh terms fueled the Turkish National Movement led by Mustafa Kemal, which rejected the treaty. It was superseded by the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923.
