1918Second Battle of the MarneAllied counteroffensive ends the last major German advance of the warGerman forces launched what became their final major offensive of World War I along the Marne River, which Allied armies under Ferdinand Foch repelled and turned into a counteroffensive. The battle marked the turning point after which Germany remained on the defensive for the rest of the war. It involved large numbers of newly arrived American troops.
